Abstract
The Internet allows for increasingly complex distributed applications, making the task of an IT operator or administrator prohibitively difficult. To alleviate this problem, automation of management tasks is necessary, and consequently on-line model construction and solution is needed. Moreover, future on-line management systems will be based more and more on 'virtualization' of resources, introducing different views to the same system. In this talk we discuss the consequences automation and virtualization have on stochastic modeling.
